Three Escape Unharmed as 40-Foot Container Crashes onto Car at Daleko Bridge

Three Escape Unharmed as 40-Foot Container Crashes onto Car at Daleko Bridge

Three people narrowly avoided tragedy when a 40-foot container fell onto their Toyota Camry at Daleko Bridge, inward Isolo. The container detached from a tow truck due to a broken turntable, shutting down traffic temporarily. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s Eagle Response Team arrived with LASTMA, FRSC and Nigerian Army personnel to divert traffic and begin recovery. By early hours of April 27, cranes had righted the container, and its contents are now being transloaded into another truck as the damaged chassis is secured. LASEMA praised the coordinated response and urged truck operators to maintain their vehicles. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes until full traffic restoration on the bridge.

What do you think caused that turntable to fail and send a container crashing onto that car at Daleko Bridge?

Do we have information on any recent maintenance or inspection records for the Daleko Bridge turntable?

Not sure it was turntable failure alone. Maybe poor upkeep or driver error played a part.

It's odd that a major tow truck turntable could break so suddenly in such a busy area without any warning signs.

I'm not convinced traffic delays alone justify more scrutiny; incidents happen everywhere, not just here in Lagos.

Regular inspections and stricter maintenance schedules for heavy equipment near bridges seem essential to prevent similar container accidents.
