NNPP to Hold Congresses Despite INEC’s Defiance of Court Orders

NNPP to Hold Congresses Despite INEC’s Defiance of Court Orders

The New Nigeria Peoples Party says it will press ahead with state and national congresses even though INEC has not complied with court rulings recognizing Dr. Agbo Major’s leadership. In Lagos, the party founder announced that its schedule for congresses, primaries and the 2027 presidential nomination has already been submitted to INEC. He warned that continued delays have deprived members of their right to participate in past elections. NNPP leaders insist they will continue to push INEC to update its records and honor the judiciary’s decisions. They say the move is necessary to avoid disenfranchising members in the run-up to next year’s general election.

It seems bold for the NNPP to push ahead with both state and national congresses despite clear defiance by INEC.

Isn't pressing forward without INEC's approval just asking for more legal battles instead of resolving existing disputes?

The NNPP should focus on securing court compliance before primaries, ensuring their congress outcomes aren't later overturned by legal challenges.
