World Bank Approves $500m AGROW Credit to Empower Nigerian Farmers

World Bank Approves $500m AGROW Credit to Empower Nigerian Farmers — 1 of 2
1 / 2

The World Bank’s International Development Association has approved a $500 million credit facility to support Nigeria’s Sustainable Agricultural Value-Chains for Growth (AGROW) project. The initiative aims to boost smallholder productivity, strengthen value chains in crops like rice, maize, cassava, and soybeans, and create jobs through a results-based matching grant scheme. AGROW will back agribusinesses that source from small farmers, improve post-harvest handling, agro-processing, and market access. It is expected to reach up to one million farmers, attract private investment, and enhance food security and resilience to climate shocks.
