Court Remands Blogger Over Fabricated Stories Targeting Governor Soludo
Mr. Ejike Ofoegbu, publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, was arraigned at the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Amawbia for alleged cyberstalking, defamation and other offences under the Cybercrimes Act. Prosecution witnesses testified that Ofoegbu published false reports claiming the governor disowned his son and made sensational comments. Police traced his phone records, arrested him in Imo State and say he later confessed and apologised publicly for the fabrications. Defence counsel argued that the case belongs before a higher court. Chief Magistrate Ezekwere agreed, denied bail and remanded Ofoegbu at Amawbia Correctional Centre pending transfer. Proceedings resume on July 27, 2026.
