Afrobeat Pioneer Fela Kuti Becomes First African in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Legendary Nigerian musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has made history as the first African artist inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He is honoured alongside Queen Latifah, rapper MC Lyte, country rocker Gram Parsons and Cuban singer Celia Cruz. British-Nigerian star Sade Adu will also be recognised in the performer category. The induction ceremony is set for 14 November at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, Fela received a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
