Gunmen Kidnap School Proprietor’s Wife and 23 Pupils in Kogi State
The Kogi State Government has confirmed that gunmen abducted 23 pupils and the wife of the proprietor of Dahallukitab Group of School, an unregistered orphanage in Zariagi along the Kabba Junction axis of Lokoja. Security agencies, led by the Nigeria Police Force, rescued 15 pupils after a swift response. Operations continue to secure the safe release of the remaining eight victims and apprehend the kidnappers. The Commissioner for Information and Communications commended the prompt action of security forces. Preliminary findings show the facility was operating illegally in a remote, bushy area without government oversight. Authorities warn that unregistered schools and orphanages in isolated locations pose serious security risks. They urge all operators to register with relevant agencies to ensure proper oversight and protection.
