Tyla Calls for United Africa After Backlash Over Xenophobic Attacks

South African singer Tyla has called for a more unified Africa following criticism from Nigerians over her silence on xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Speaking at the South African Music Awards, she said she was proud to be South African and African. She added that she hopes to experience a united Africa in the future. Tyla had faced backlash after she did not publicly address attacks on foreign nationals, including Nigerians. She later removed Lagos from the list of stops on her planned world tour.
