Over 700 Deradicalised Terrorists Set for Community Reintegration

Over 700 Deradicalised Terrorists Set for Community Reintegration

Over 700 former terrorists are ready to return to their communities after deradicalisation and rehabilitation at the centre in Gombe. Brigadier-General Yusuf Ali, Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor, led a recent media tour of the Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration Centre in North-East Nigeria. He noted that many Nigerians still lack understanding of the federal counter-terrorism programme. The structured initiative aims to rebuild peace in communities affected by terrorism nationwide. Some clients shared how they became involved in extremist acts that led them to the camp. The tour was held ahead of the graduation ceremony for the graduates. The military has denied claims that ex-clients are now being recruited into military institutions.
