Kwankwaso to Defect from NNPP to ADC After Appeal Court Decision

Barring any last-minute changes, former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso plans to join the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections. He sent Buba Galadima to negotiate with ADC leaders. This follows the Court of Appeal ruling that upheld Agbo Major’s leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party. In Kano, the ADC has gained momentum under former APP chairman Ibrahim Ali Amin. His growing influence shows as more stakeholders visit his residence. No final agreement on party structures exists. The ADC promises transparent congresses and inclusive primaries, unlike Kwankwaso’s consensus approach. It is unclear which candidate he will back.

You're right to wonder if his switch will sway enough votes to reshape the 2027 race, I'm doubtful though.

This switch after the Appeal Court decision shows how legal outcomes can directly reshape party alignments and candidate strategies.

I no sure say sending Galadima to negotiate was the best strategy for Kwankwaso when leaving NNPP.

Anyone considering ADC membership should research the party's grassroots network and policy track record before making a final decision.
