Kwankwaso Condemns FG’s Response to Peter Obi’s Security Fears and El-Rufai’s Detention

Kwankwaso has raised alarm over how the Federal Government handled two recent controversies involving key opposition figures. He criticised the government’s reaction to Peter Obi’s interview in which Obi warned about threats to his personal safety and the impact of political pressure on his businesses. Instead of offering protection, the FG resorted to personal insults, Kwankwaso said, undermining democratic norms. He also highlighted the family anguish over Nasir El-Rufai’s prolonged detention and called for due process, reasonable bail conditions, and respect for the presumption of innocence. Kwankwaso urged the government to act with transparency and fairness, warning against weaponising legal processes for political gain and stressing that all Nigerians deserve equal treatment under the law.
