Lagos Launches 1,710 Public Toilets and Urges Businesses to Open Restrooms
As part of efforts to end open defecation and improve sanitation, Lagos now has 1,710 public toilets available to residents and visitors. Government cannot do this alone. We are urging businesses — including filling stations, banks and eateries — to open their restrooms to everyone. This partnership will extend access to safe sanitation across the state. We will continue enforcing environmental sanitation laws. Anyone caught defecating in public will face arrest and prosecution. These measures protect public health and preserve dignity. Access to sanitation is a shared responsibility. As government expands infrastructure, we call on citizens and businesses to help keep Lagos clean, safe and habitable.
