Mentally Ill Mother and Baby Left Outside Police Station Spark Concern

I was at an eatery yesterday when I saw a woman with mental health challenges carrying an 8-month-old baby. She was begging every customer for money. The eatery is right in front of a police station, but the officers did nothing while the child stayed with her. It bothered me that they turned a blind eye to the woman’s and baby’s safety. I keep asking myself why a vulnerable mother has a baby in her care and which government agency should step in. Rumour has it that ritualists sometimes exploit mentally ill women for fortification purposes.

What steps can we take to make police act when a mother with mental health issues and her baby are left outside?

Do we know if the station followed any existing protocol for assisting individuals with mental health challenges?

I agree the police should respond, but I worry this will just be another empty promise.

It's odd that officers stayed idle despite the station's proximity. Something's not adding up here.

Contact local mental health charities and child protection units to ensure the mother and baby receive proper care and shelter.
