Nigeria Warns US and International Partners Against ‘Christian Genocide’ Narrative

Nigeria has rejected claims by the US that the country is facing a Christian genocide. The government insists religion must not be dragged into discussions on terrorism and insecurity. Both Christians and Muslims have been targeted by violent attacks across northern Nigeria. The authorities refuse to let any foreign power assign greater value to one community’s suffering over another. Nigeria accuses some international actors of using the “false narrative” to advance interests in rare earth minerals in the Middle Belt. It urges the EU and UN to resist being drawn into this divisive agenda. The government remains open to security cooperation but insists its sovereignty and unity cannot be compromised by manufactured consent tactics.

Absolutely. Scare tactics fuel this talk, so steady communication, transparent probes, and inclusive leadership fit calm tensions and preserve unity.
