Okoronkwo: Super Falcons’ Glory More Important Than Personal Awards

Esther Okoronkwo is prioritising Nigeria’s success at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations over chasing individual accolades. She starred at the last WAFCON with three goals and six assists in six matches but did not win a personal award. Despite a nomination for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, she says retaining the trophy is more rewarding than any individual honour. The 29-year-old Toronto AF forward adds that she is eager to prove her full ability after battling injuries throughout her career.
