Former midfielder Duke Udi has called on Nigeria coach Eric Chelle to exclude goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali from upcoming matches until he signs a club. Nwabali impressed at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco with three clean sheets but left Chippa United after the winter transfer window, leaving him unattached. Speaking before the 2026 Unity Cup in London, Udi argued that national team selection should be based on current form and club status, similar to England and Senegal’s approach. Despite interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Simba SC, Nwabali remains without a team, and Udi believes past achievements should not count for selection.
