Obande Gideon Elected MYC President, Outlines Vision for Middle-Belt Youth — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Comrade Obande Gideon Obande was elected President of the Middle-Belt Youth Congress for a four-year term at a congress held in Abuja on Sunday. Youth leaders and stakeholders from across the region attended to shape a stronger, youth-driven agenda. In his acceptance speech, Obande pledged to put the region’s interests first. He called for unity and purposeful leadership to tackle challenges like infrastructure gaps, political inclusion, and industrialisation. A former student union leader and past President of the Ochetoha K’Idoma Youth Wing, Obande brings years of regional advocacy experience. His election reflects confidence in his commitment to empowering Middle-Belt youths. Under his administration, the MYC aims to boost youth representation at state and federal levels and forge partnerships with government, private sector and development organisations. Many hope his leadership will translate plans into tangible results for the region.
