Azeez Breaks 55-Year Record with Debut Brace for Super Eagles
Electric winger Femi Azeez became the first Super Eagles debutant since 1971 to score twice in a match. His brace sealed a 2-0 semi-final win over Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup. Azeez opened his account within five minutes and added his second in the 55th minute. This feat had not been achieved since Mathias Obianika’s double for the Green Eagles in November 1971. The Millwall forward also joins an elite list as the 62nd Nigerian to score on his senior international debut. Coach Eric Chelle’s bold selection of debutants looks justified as Nigeria heads into the final.
