Putin Commends Iranian Resistance to US and Israel, Pledges Russian Support

At a meeting in St. Petersburg, President Vladimir Putin praised the courage of the Iranian people in defending their independence and sovereignty against US and Israeli actions. Putin told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that Russia would do everything possible to support Tehran’s interests and help bring peace to the region. Moscow has offered to mediate in the Middle East conflict and proposed storing Iran’s enriched uranium to ease tensions, a plan rejected by the United States. Russian Special Envoy Andrey Belousov also condemned recent US–Israeli strikes as a “flagrant and unprecedented” breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and warned of serious consequences for international cooperation.
