Enugu Raises ESUT Monthly Funding to ₦276m, Urges ASUU to Suspend Strike

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved an additional ₦115 million monthly subvention for the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) amid the ongoing strike by the institution’s ASUU chapter. The increase raises the government’s monthly support for ESUT from ₦161 million to ₦276 million. This follows a ₦25 million monthly intervention introduced in February 2026 to support 120 additional staff at the College of Medicine. The state government said the funding is intended to help the university meet its staff obligations and sustain academic activities. It appealed to ASUU-ESUT to suspend the strike and continue discussions on outstanding issues so students can return to uninterrupted learning.
