Sanwo-Olu Vows Next Week Demolition of Illegal Structures on Lagos-Badagry Expressway Median
The Lagos State Government says a large-scale demolition of illegal structures and removal of unauthorised occupants along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway median will begin next week. Affected persons have been given final notice to vacate immediately. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the directive during a sanitation inspection at Itire Road in Surulere. The clearance covers the stretch from Orile-Iganmu to Okokomaiko and aims to restore the median to its intended use. The state will deploy personnel and equipment for the operation. It has also approved 150 additional compactor trucks and smaller trucks for inner roads. A material recovery and recycling facility handling over 4,250 tonnes of waste daily is set to open next year. Residents are reminded to pay waste disposal bills promptly and join in sanitation efforts. The government calls on everyone to help build a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.
