Niger State Grandfather Arrested After DNA Test Confirms He Fathered Granddaughter’s Child

Authorities in Niger State have detained a 65-year-old man from Mashegu LGA after a DNA test confirmed he fathered a baby with his 16-year-old granddaughter. The State Child Rights Agency revealed at a press briefing that the youngster was six months pregnant when her father lodged a complaint. Tests conducted abroad at a cost of ₦500,000 showed a 99.9999% match. The teenager gave birth to a boy in December and has been under the agency’s care while receiving medical and psychological support. The suspect, who denies the allegations, remains in police custody. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will face court charges soon. The agency also disclosed it is prosecuting five other child molestation cases in the state.
