Abia Governor Honors Alex Ekubo’s Legacy of Resilience and Excellence
Abia Governor Alex Otti described the late actor Alex Ekubo as a model of resilience, creativity and excellence during the funeral service at the Mary Slessor Technical College grounds in Arochukwu. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Caleb Ajagba, the governor praised Ekubo as more than an entertainer. He said the actor served as a cultural ambassador who projected Nigeria’s image worldwide and offered a powerful lesson in discipline and dedication. In a sermon titled “Please Forgive God,” Mrs Eno Jerry-Eze of Streams of Joy Church reminded mourners of God’s sovereignty and called on everyone to examine their lives. Ekubo’s elder sister described him as humble, caring and God-fearing. The actor, who died at age 40 from advanced metastatic kidney cancer, is survived by his wife, parents and siblings. The service was attended by top officials, Nollywood colleagues and sympathisers who came to honour his enduring impact.
