Nigerian Small Businesses Frustrated as CAC Portal Remains Down

Business owners across Nigeria are struggling after the Corporate Affairs Commission portal went offline. The CAC website has been returning a “502 Bad Gateway” error for over three days. This outage has blocked new company registrations, updates to existing records, and even business name reservations. Earlier this year, the commission briefly shut its portal for maintenance and rolled out an AI-powered registration system. A security breach in April also prompted users to reset passwords after reports of possible data access. With no official statement on the latest outage and support lines unreachable, many small businesses and startups are unable to formalise operations or update vital company details.
