RCCG Hails Dramatic Rescue of Oyo Pupils as Answer to Prayer
Thirty-nine pupils and seven teachers were held captive in Oriire, Oyo State, for 57 days after gunmen attacked three schools. One teacher was killed trying to escape and another was later beheaded. The Redeemed Christian Church of God described their release as an answer to prayers. The church thanked security agencies and said weeks of fasting and praying fulfilled God’s promise. In a video, Pastor Enoch Adeboye said he was told the rescue would be dramatic. I find this response hollow. Praising prayer feels like empty rhetoric when attacks still spread across Nigeria. Leaders lean on blind faith and exploit followers instead of pushing for real accountability.
