Peter Obi: I Would Have Entered Oyo Forest Within Two Days Over Abducted Pupils
Peter Obi has criticised the Federal Government’s response to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire LGA, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. He said that, if he were president, he would have gone into the forest within two days to ensure their rescue. Obi questioned why the victims had not been rescued after several weeks. He argued that the forest where they were taken is part of Nigeria and said security agencies should act decisively to bring everyone out, even if an operation could involve casualties. He also called for greater transparency in security operations, including publicly parading arrested suspects and updating Nigerians on investigations. Drawing on his time as Anambra governor, Obi said he had previously confronted criminal groups operating from forests in the state.
