The University of Port Harcourt’s Governing Council has approved the appointment of Professor Princewill Chike as its 10th vice-chancellor. He will assume office on July 13, succeeding Professor Owunari Georgewill whose tenure expires that day. The decision by the 17th Governing Council followed a rigorous selection process carried out by a Search Team and a Joint Council-Senate Selection Board in line with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act and the University of Port Harcourt Act. Pro-Chancellor Mao Ohuabunwa congratulated Prof Chike and expressed confidence in his capacity to advance the university’s vision. Prof Chike previously served as Rivers State Commissioner for Health under former Governor Nyesom Wike.
