No One Wants Obi Dead, He’ll Contest 2027 and Lose Again – Works Minister
Minister of Works David Umahi has ridiculed Peter Obi’s claim that his life could be in danger ahead of the 2027 election. During an inspection of federal roads in Ebonyi State, he insisted no one wished Obi harm and predicted the former Anambra governor would stand for the polls and lose again. Obi had alleged in a recent interview that the current administration was obstructing his livelihood and targeting opposition figures. He cited incidents like the clamping of his vehicle at Lagos airport and claimed supporters now avoid greeting him publicly for fear of government reprisal. Umahi argued that federal infrastructure projects and regional appointments under President Tinubu have shifted South East support towards the ruling party. He also challenged Obi to publicly debate the Tinubu administration’s achievements in infrastructure and inclusiveness. The Presidency has denied any harassment of Obi or obstruction of his activities, dismissing the allegations as unfounded.
