Tinubu Hails Rangers’ Record Ninth NPFL Title
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International FC on clinching the Nigeria Premier Football League crown for a record ninth time. In a statement from his office, he praised the team’s discipline and resilience throughout the season, noting that they finished with 68 points to edge out Rivers United FC. He recalled Rangers’ golden era in the 1970s and 1980s, including their runs to the African Club Champions Cup final in 1975 and victory in the 1977 African Cup Winners’ Cup. The President also commended Governor Peter Mbah’s investment in youth and sports, which he said contributed to this success. He extended his applause to Rivers United for their sportsmanship and wished both teams well ahead of next season’s CAF Champions League.
