Inside Pax-2: Africa’s Largest Drone Factory Takes Shape in Ghana

Inside Pax-2: Africa’s Largest Drone Factory Takes Shape in Ghana

Terra Industries is set to open Pax-2 in Accra by June 2026. At 34,000 square feet, it will become Africa’s biggest drone manufacturing plant. The facility is designed to produce up to 50,000 drones a year, including long-range Archer VTOLs, rapid-deployment Iroko UAVs, and Kama interceptor drones. The move reflects Terra’s push for “sovereign defence” amid a rise in drone attacks by insurgent groups across the Sahel. Terra’s Nigeria base already protects over $11 billion in critical infrastructure. Since launching in 2024, the company has raised $34 million and partnered with Nigeria’s Defence Industries Corporation under new defence-act legislation. Ghana was chosen for its stability, skilled workforce, and openness to defence exports. Pax-2 will create 120 engineering jobs and anchor local drone production on the continent. The big test now is whether African governments will trust a homegrown manufacturer over established foreign suppliers.
