Yagba Primaries at Risk as Kogi Govt Withholds Party Membership Cards

Yagba Primaries at Risk as Kogi Govt Withholds Party Membership Cards

The people of Yagba and Kogi State cannot stay silent ahead of tomorrow’s primaries. The state government and party leaders have refused to issue membership cards to loyal party faithful. Without cards, genuine members are denied the right to vote while intimidation tactics and alleged thugs loom. A free and fair primary cannot happen under these conditions. If Elder Leke truly enjoys widespread support in Yagba, there should be no fear of a transparent contest. We demand the immediate release of membership cards and a fair, intimidation-free primary. Democracy must prevail over manipulation and state-sponsored control.

Withholding membership cards seems a clear way to sideline genuine voters before primaries even start.

Could the government be withholding cards for logistical reasons rather than to disenfranchise voters?

Maybe loyal members hold less sway than we think, and leaders see card withholdings as just another political game.

Residents could form local observer teams and report any intimidation or card denial to independent monitors on primaries day.
