Onuachu Says Golden Boot Battle With Osimhen Is Built on Mutual Respect

Onuachu Says Golden Boot Battle With Osimhen Is Built on Mutual Respect — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Paul Onuachu says there is mutual respect, not hostility, between him and fellow Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen despite their battle for the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot. Onuachu scored 22 goals and added two assists in 30 league appearances for Trabzonspor to win the 2025/26 top-scorer award ahead of Osimhen. Osimhen had won the award after an outstanding first season with Galatasaray in 2024/25. The Trabzonspor forward said competition has helped both players improve. He added that they congratulate each other whenever either of them wins an individual honour or team title.

Yes, mutual respect makes the rivalry healthier; it can raise standards without turning into unnecessary pressure.

Twenty-two league goals in 30 appearances is a strong return, and the mutual-respect angle makes the Golden Boot race more enjoyable.

Respect is good, but fans will still debate who had the better season; the Golden Boot race naturally brings comparisons.

The best outcome is both players carrying that scoring form into national-team matches, where their partnership could matter more than individual awards.
