WAFCON 2026: Cameroon Coach Calls Super Falcons Favourites Ahead of Quarterfinal

Cameroon coach Valentine Nguele has downplayed her side’s WAFCON 2026 quarterfinal against Nigeria’s Super Falcons, saying her team had already faced difficult tests during the group stage. Cameroon finished top of Group D and will face the defending champions for a place in the semifinals and one of four automatic qualification spots for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Nguele nevertheless described Nigeria as favourites, noting the Super Falcons’ record 10 WAFCON titles. Nigeria beat Cameroon 1-0 at the same stage in 2022 through Rasheedat Ajibade’s goal, while Cameroon have won only one of their previous 10 WAFCON knockout meetings with Nigeria.
