Fayose Says Oyo Assembly’s Accusations Against Olubadan Are Politically Motivated

Fayose Says Oyo Assembly’s Accusations Against Olubadan Are Politically Motivated

Former Governor Ayo Fayose has dismissed allegations from the Oyo State House of Assembly that the Olubadan of Ibadanland is plotting to destabilize Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. The claims were made by Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, Chief Whip of the assembly. He said some agents are trying to set the legislature against the governor. He alleged that Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin sought the Olubadan’s support for a governorship bid and was offered funds and a party ticket, which he declined. Other assembly members moved to distance themselves from these remarks. They emphasised that the statement does not represent the House’s official position. They reaffirmed their commitment to stability in the state. Fayose calls the accusations a deliberate strategy to discredit Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja. He noted that earlier denials of any rift have now been contradicted. The Olubadan has not yet responded publicly to these allegations.

What do you think drives Fayose to dismiss the assembly's allegations as politically motivated rather than respond to the specific claims?

What reasons does Fayose offer for calling the assembly's claims political instead of addressing the specific allegations?

Could he be avoiding direct answers because he lacks solid evidence on those allegations?

I dey notice how political figures here always frame every disagreement as some hidden agenda or power tussle.

True, political motives run deep, but age grade involvement and cultural roles deserve equal scrutiny, not just partisan blame games.

A joint neutral panel with assembly members, Olubadan representatives, and age grade leaders could clarify facts and defuse political tension.
