Kano Fire Service Rescues Mother, 18-Month-Old Child and Man from Separate Well Incidents
The Kano State Fire Service rescued three people from wells in Kumbotso and Warawa Local Government Areas on May 29. Emergency crews responded to distress calls at 7:06 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. on Friday. In Kumbotso, firefighters arrived near El-Sadeeq Bread in Semegu and found an unidentified middle-aged man trapped in a well. He was pulled out unconscious and handed over to the Panshekara Police Division for investigation. Later in Warawa, rescuers reached Madarin Taba Village to find a 32-year-old woman with mental health challenges and her 18-month-old son inside a well. Both were brought out unconscious and placed in the care of local ward officials and the boy’s father. The Fire Service Director urged residents to cover wells securely and monitor vulnerable people, especially children and those with health issues. The causes of both incidents remain under investigation.
