Matawalle Orders Intensified Military Offensive Against Bandits in North-West

Minister of State for Defence Mohammed Bello Matawalle has ordered troops in the North-West to intensify operations against bandits and terrorist networks after renewed attacks in Zamfara State. He issued the directive while condoling with victims in Bungudu and other affected communities. He said Operation Fansan Yamma and military formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna should use all lawful measures to dismantle criminal hideouts and prevent further attacks. Matawalle also asked traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to provide timely, credible intelligence on suspected collaborators. He commended troops for recent operations in parts of Zamfara and Katsina, urging them to sustain the campaign until security is restored across the region.

Fair point. An intensified offensive should be judged by whether daily safety actually improves for affected communities, not just by the announcement.

The condolence message matters, but the renewed attacks show how heavily affected communities are still carrying the burden.

Ordering intensified operations sounds necessary, yet people will judge it by whether attacks actually reduce, not by the directive alone.

Authorities should pair the military push with clear safety updates for residents in affected areas and support for victims.
