Military Scores Major Wins in May: 317 Terrorists Neutralised, 221 Freed
In May, Nigerian troops intensified operations against insurgents, kidnappers and oil thieves. They neutralised 317 terrorists and criminal elements, rescued 221 kidnapped victims and arrested 314 suspects. They also recovered 93 weapons. Eighteen suspected terrorists surrendered. Three illegal refining sites were destroyed and 21,910 litres of stolen fuel were recovered. In the North-East, Operation Hadin Kai troops neutralised 73 insurgents, arrested 159 suspects and freed 112 civilians. In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma forces killed 24 terrorists, detained 13 and rescued 22 victims. Central commands under Savannah Shield, Enduring Peace and Whirl Stroke dismantled kidnapping rings and uncovered an arms factory in Plateau. In the South-South, Delta Safe teams cracked down on oil theft. Operation Udo Ka in the South-East recovered more weapons, arrested 60 suspects and freed 18 captives. The Defence Headquarters says the pressure will be sustained until all threats are neutralised.
