FRSC’s ‘War Against Overloading’ Nets 58 Offenders in Gombe
Since April, the Federal Road Safety Corps in Gombe State has arrested 58 drivers for exceeding vehicle load limits under its “War Against Overloading” campaign. The Sector Commander noted that overloaded vehicles are a leading cause of fatal crashes. He called for strict enforcement of load regulations, public awareness, and responsible behaviour by drivers and vehicle owners. He explained that every vehicle is built for a specific number of passengers and weight of goods. Overloading harms control, increases fuel consumption, shortens vehicle lifespan, and raises casualty risks in any crash. Passengers should avoid boarding overloaded vehicles, especially during the rainy season, and owners must respect load limits to protect everyone on the road.
