Lagos Affirms Lawful Sanitation Exercise, Details Controlled Movement Rules

Lagos Affirms Lawful Sanitation Exercise, Details Controlled Movement Rules

The Lagos State Government says its monthly environmental sanitation drive remains lawful under a November 2021 Court of Appeal ruling. The state’s Attorney-General explained that the appellate court found no breach of residents’ fundamental rights and that the judgment stands until the Supreme Court decides otherwise. He added that an earlier 2019 decision has been overtaken by the 2021 ruling. On movement, he clarified there is no total lockdown during sanitation hours. Controlled movement applies only on streets under active cleaning, while residents can use alternative roads safely.
