INEC Explains Delay in Osun Election Materials as Ballot Papers Are Reprinted

INEC says the distribution of sensitive materials for Saturday’s Osun governorship election was delayed because ballot papers and result sheets had to be reprinted. The reprint followed a Federal High Court order directing the commission to include SDP candidate Francis Ajala and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, on the ballot. Their inclusion raises the number of parties contesting the election from 14 to 15. INEC began distributing the materials from the CBN office in Osogbo to the state’s 30 local government areas after the revised materials arrived from Abuja. The commission says deployment will be completed before polling begins. Voters will choose among 15 candidates, including Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, APC candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
