Two Suspected Cultists Arrested at PAAU After Biochemistry Student’s Killing
Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University were arrested in an anti-cultism operation following the murder of 300-level biochemistry student David Solomon on June 11. According to the university’s Public Relations Officer, both Fidelis Atuluku and Monday Okolo are 100-level students in the Department of Social Studies/Education. They were apprehended on campus after a tip-off, found with charms and confessed to membership of the Juris Confraternity before gaining admission. The suspects will be handed over to law enforcement for further investigation and prosecution. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Salisu Usman described the killing as “painful and unacceptable” and urged parents to monitor their children’s company to curb cult recruitment. PAAU has opened an amnesty window for cult members willing to surrender and will hold a public renunciation ceremony for those who denounce cultism. Security surveillance on campus has also been heightened as investigations continue.
