Tarila Okorowanta Asks NFF for Coaching or Administrative Role

Tarila Okorowanta Asks NFF for Coaching or Administrative Role

Former Nigeria youth international Tarila Okorowanta has called on the Nigeria Football Federation to give him a role in the country’s football structure. He said he is ready to serve in either a coaching or administrative capacity, depending on where he is needed most. Okorowanta, who scored Nigeria’s first goal at a FIFA World Youth Championship in 1983, said the poor state of the nation’s youth teams is affecting the Super Eagles. He lamented the decline of the Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets and senior team, saying fresh ideas are needed to revive Nigerian football. The former Bayelsa United team manager said he has played for the Flying Eagles and Green Eagles and has also attended coaching courses. He added that he can contribute as a team coordinator, manager or technical committee member.

It's notable when former players ask to serve, but the bigger issue is whether the right structure is actually in place.

Being willing to serve is good, but roles should come from fit and merit, not just former status.

A clear pathway from youth football to coaching or admin jobs would make these requests easier to assess.
