Living for God: Insights from 1 Peter 4:1-11

Since Christ suffered in his body, we are called to adopt the same mindset and turn away from sin. We no longer live for selfish desires but for God’s will. In verses 3–6, Peter reminds us how our former ways of debauchery, lust and idolatry are behind us. Believers may face criticism, but all will give account before the Judge of the living and the dead. As the end approaches, we are urged to remain alert in prayer, love one another deeply, and offer hospitality without complaint. Each gift we receive is to be used in service, so that God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

It's interesting Peter relates past indulgence in debauchery and idolatry to our need for spiritual discipline today.

For a start, set small daily goals that reflect sacrificial living, like serving others or limiting personal indulgences each day.
