Kano Court Remands Woman Over Boyfriend’s Death in Phone Charger Dispute
A Kano magistrate has ordered that a woman be held in a correctional facility over the alleged killing of her boyfriend after a row sparked by a phone charger. The state counsel, led by the Attorney-General, arraigned the defendant in Magistrate Court No. 27. Prosecutors say an argument over the charger turned violent when tear gas was used. The woman is accused of grabbing the canister, spraying it back and striking her partner, who later died from a head injury. Counsel for the defence requested copies of the charges. The magistrate granted the request and adjourned the case until July 7, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
