How a Hong Market Vegetable Seller Became My Family’s Blessing

How a Hong Market Vegetable Seller Became My Family’s Blessing

I believe we should honour kindness while we still can. My friend Sadiq Saidu, a vegetable seller in Hong Market, has shown incredible generosity to my wife and me. After marrying and moving to Hong, I struggled to find affordable produce for my new home. For almost two years, Sadiq has given us tomatoes, peppers, onions and okra free of charge—often more than we can carry. He always refuses payment, insisting it’s a gift for our family. His kindness has lifted my dignity and shown my wife the warmth of this community. I pray God blesses him abundantly. His example reminds us all to live in peace and reach out with kindness wherever we are.

Have you ever experienced unexpected kindness from a local vendor while struggling with high market prices?

Absolutely! Once a local trader handed me extra tomatoes when I needed them most, really saved my day.

I doubt all sellers here would go that far—maybe yours was just an exception, not the norm.

It feels odd that only one seller shows this level of generosity when others watch profits over community needs.

Sweet story, but focusing on one seller's goodwill risks masking broader market failures we need to address.

Perhaps we could organize a community buying group at Hong Market to negotiate bulk discounts and support sellers like Sadiq.
