IFAD and FG Equip 697 Young Farmers with Skills Across Ondo State
IFAD, the Federal Government and the LIFE-ND project have enrolled 697 young farmers from nine LGAs across Ondo State. The programme aims to boost food security and develop sustainable agribusiness ventures. Training began in November 2025 at community centres, where participants spent one to three months learning practical skills in cassava, cocoa, fishery and poultry production. Each incubate received a N50,000 monthly stipend to support their studies. In May 2026, 30 selected incubates visited Nibanola Farms in Ondo Town for a hands-on learning route. This exposure deepened their understanding of farm management and value-chain processes. Plans are now in place to provide start-up grants so trainees can launch their own enterprises. Project leaders urged Nigerian youths to view agriculture as a profitable career path. Incubates praised the initiative for building their confidence and called on peers to pursue agribusiness opportunities.
