Woman Critically Injured After Clothing Ignites on Edinburgh Street
A woman is fighting for her life after her clothes caught fire outside a block of flats in the St Leonards district of Edinburgh at around 12:10pm on Monday, June 22. Onlookers, including two Royal Mail staff, desperately beat the flames with clothing and a blanket. Another passer-by tried to douse the fire with water, but the flames had already spread to the lower half of her body. Emergency services arrived and firefighters extinguished the blaze before police took statements. The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition, and officers say there are no suspicious circumstances as enquiries continue.
