Katsina Farmer Survives After Bandits Pour Petrol on Him and Set Him Ablaze
A displaced farmer from Batagarawa LGA in Katsina State recounts how bandits poured petrol over him, struck a match and left him burning in his farm. He rolled in the sand, screaming, until the flames died down. A stranger later found him and rushed him for hospital care, but repeated referrals forced him to seek traditional treatment for his severe burns. Now sheltered in Sabon Layi camp in Katsina town, he and his family live on aid. He appeals to authorities to restore peace in Katsina and other northern communities plagued by banditry.
