Joint Security Operation Rescues 308 Kidnap Victims in Kwara and Niger
A joint, intelligence-led security operation coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser has rescued 308 people who were held captive in Kwara and Niger states. Security agencies involved included the Armed Forces, DSS, National Counter Terrorism Centre and the Nigeria Police Force. Of those rescued, 163 were abducted from Woro community in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State, while 145 were freed in Niger State. The victims have been taken to the military medical facility at Wawa Cantonment in New Bussa for treatment, screening and debriefing. Authorities say efforts to trace and dismantle the kidnapping networks behind the abductions are continuing.
