ABUAD Hospital Performs 50 Kidney Transplants, Seals Partnership with Indian Health Leader

Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital in Ado-Ekiti has completed over 50 successful kidney transplants and related surgeries. This milestone demonstrates that complex renal care can be delivered safely in Nigeria. The hospital’s Chief Medical Director highlighted years of investment in infrastructure, specialist training, and international collaboration as the foundation for these achievements. AMSH now offers advanced urology services, from reconstructive procedures to radical prostate surgery. A new memorandum of understanding with Manipal Hospitals, India, will deepen clinical exchanges, enhance specialist training, and pave the way for introducing robotic surgery. The partnership aims to reduce medical tourism and position Ado-Ekiti as a centre of excellence in nephrology and urological care.
