Governors Push for State Police: NGF Delivers Framework to NSA, Eyes National Assembly Approval

The Nigeria Governors Forum has formally submitted its proposed state police framework to the Office of the National Security Adviser. The document will be forwarded to the National Assembly for legislative consideration, Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq said after meeting President Tinubu in Lagos. AbdulRazaq emphasised ongoing consultations among security stakeholders under the NSA’s leadership. He reaffirmed governors’ commitment to strengthen collaboration with security agencies, tackle insecurity, expand infrastructure and improve citizens’ welfare. He also congratulated the President on his historic state visit to the United Kingdom—the first in 37 years—and expressed optimism that new bilateral agreements will deepen ties and deliver economic benefits. Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Chief of Staff and other senior officials attended the meeting.
